About us

I was running two butcher's shops in Soho, serving for the Dorchester and Savoy Hotels when I came back in East Molesey 13 years ago and bought the shop after having worked at the butcher's shop in Central Avenue in the 70s. It was the 1860 tiles and the Victorian front that I fell in love with. Some of the original 1860 decorative Royal Doulton tiles can still be found on the walls.

The shop has traded in meat for over 150 years and for the past six years we have supplied Hampton Court Palace with some of its meat requirements.

We take pride in selling free range meats and rare breeds. We have recently been accredited Rare Breeds Butcher by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

Rare breeds thrive in non-intensive, natural farming environments free of growth promoters, hormones and antibiotics. Accordingly, the meat develops better, truer flavour as it matures more slowly.

I opened a second shop 3 years ago with my partner Paul Cook in Claygate, The Game Larder - which specialises in top quality game, free range meats and poultry but also in exotic meats like alligator, crocodile, emu, ostrich, wild boar and even locust!
